Balloon Festival 2009

Last year we had so much fun at the Plano Balloon Festival that we decided to attend again this year. Thanks to my trusty friend we received free passes and VIP parking. Yay! There were so many things to see and do. Luckily, it had stopped raining long enough for the ground to not be wet and muddy. And the cloud cover made it downright pleasant. A great day for a trip to a festival!

They had a sky-diving team parachute in. It was really neat to watch them jump out of the plane...but I still do not ever think I would like to do such a thing!

These two balloons tethered together raised an American flag. Seeing these huge balloons up close is mesmerizing. We walked around and found a spot that wasn't too far. Jeff insists we be close enough to the front gate that we can make a 'quick getaway'. Um, yeah -- don't ask me why. It's not like there is a stampede to get out.

The weather was also clear enough for the balloons to take off. Jack in the Box and remax were some of the first out of the gate. Tristen and Sydney cheered - they thought it was a race and kept telling me who was going to win.

More balloons floated across the sky. Some took quick landing spots nearby.

One of my favorite parts of the festival is...the food! The roasted corn is my favorite --Sydney decided it was her favorite too! We also had corn dogs and snow cones.

When the sun sets, it is time for the balloon glow. There were a lot of fun shapes; a dragon, a penguin and of course, Daisy! It's also time for glow in the dark fun!

We played cards, walked around and had a great time watching the balloons.

Of course one of the ways to pass the time is ....dancing! This video is really dark, but maybe you can make out these awesome dancers or at least that Syd likes to be in front. Hope you had a fun weekend!
